It’s Wednesday of Convention week! (Green 4 Falasteen)

🍉 It’s Wednesday of Convention week! Neither of the Palestine resolutions went to the floor yesterday, as much of the day was taken up with preparation for Tim Waltz’s appearance. We believe AFSCME must use its power to not simply platform candidates, but to demand that our politicians, including Vice President Harris and Governor Walz, advance policies that promote the well-being of our communities, and not violence and genocide at home and abroad.

📚 For today’s testimonial, we’re sharing the words of Beth Zack-Cohen and Karl Schwartz, President and Vice President of AFSCME Local 2298, Council 63.

Beth:
“Local 2298’s Executive Board voted unanimously in favor of supporting the G4F resolution. As union members, library workers, and concerned citizens, we strongly condemn the atrocities in Palestine and we call on AFSCME to pass this resolution and take a stronger stance against the genocide, in line with other major unions.”

Karl:
“I am proud to represent public library workers.
There are no more public libraries left in Gaza, as the Palestinian people face a genocide and the destruction of all of their cultural and civic institutions. It is unconscionable to me that Israel is committing such horrific war crimes against my fellow library workers, and that is why I support G4F’s resolution.”
