Just some of our **incredible** G4F delegates this morning before a marathon day of resolutions, which is only just now wrapping up. We’ll have a longer update soon, but for now we wanted to share some quick outcomes.
We are sad to report that Resolution 46 did not pass, nor did our proposed amendment to Resolution 32, which would have committed AFSCME to signing onto the 7 union arms embargo letter from July. That said, the amendment voice vote for No. 32 was so close that a standing vote was needed — a first at this Convention, or any AFSCME IU Convention in recent memory, a testament to our organizing and AFSCME membership’s strong desire to see the end of this genocide.
We are exhausted from the week’s proceedings and heartbroken to not have been able to pass a Palestine resolution with actual teeth in it. But, we are also fired up, full of solidarity, and so proud of the work we’ve put in together. This doesn’t end with this Convention, and it was never going to.
