Our response to the AFSCME International Executive Board’s ceasefire resolution,
& our demands for AFSCME.
Last week, the AFSCME IEB passed a resolution supporting a ceasefire, & quietly posted it to their blog. While aspects of the resolution are well-intentioned, Green 4 Falasteen believes the resolution as a whole fails in delivering accurate historical context, as well as recognizing US complicity in Israel’s ongoing occupation & genocide.
Critically, this resolution does not address the sizable power AFSCME has to exercise pressure on US elected officials, one of our most tangible means of creating change from here in the United States.
