We continue our member testimonials today with Matteo Hintz, Member and Delegate from AFSCME Local 397, Council 47. Here’s what Teo has to say about why he’s supporting G4F’s resolution:
“ ‘An injury to one is an injury to all.’
‘No one is free until we are all free.’
These are sentiments that I assumed my union stood by, given its radical history of fighting for justice. Yet, they draw a line at Palestine. AFSCME prefers the spoils of war and western imperialism over dignity and respect for the Palestinian people. This is made clear by their deafening silence and unwavering support for the state of Israel.
AFSCME leadership needs to know that their complicity in Israel’s crimes does not align with members’ values. We all believe in the power AFSCME wields in US policy, and we are using our collective voice to pressure them to use it!”
