As the Trump administration continues to abduct, assault, and jawbone our colleagues, it is more important than ever that we use our locals to demand workplace protections – especially by passing resolutions and contract language to demand Sanctuary Workplaces and other basic protections for our comrades who are here on visas or are undocumented.
Resolutions are an important tool to connect with our coworkers and establish shared principles that can pave the way for future organizing. Passing resolutions at the local level also shows UAW leadership where we stand as members — pushing them to take a more proactive stance against fascism, and backing up their kind words with collective action.
We hope you can use and adapt the texts of these resolutions as is relevant to your workplaces:
- UAW 2325 and UAW 7902 Resolution: “Calling on Region 9A CAP Council to Actualize Key Demands Passed by two UAW Locals in Support of Immigrant Rights“
- UAW 4811 UCLA Rank and File Sample Resolution: “Organize UAW in Defense of Student Activists & Democratic Rights”
- UAWD Resolution, Passed January 2025: “An Injury to One is an Injury to All“
If you’ve never introduced or passed a resolution before, we’re happy to help walk you through it. Reach out to us at uawlaborforpalestine@gmail.com
From all rivers to all seas,
