💚Statement:
Today, we mark one year of the US-Israeli genocide on Gaza. As we mourn all of those murdered with our tax dollars over the course of this terrible year (in the hundreds of thousands, by some estimates), we also express our solidarity with all who have stood up against these horrors and still struggle onwards. We honor the workers of the world who have organized in spite of hostile bosses and regressive union leadership, who have faced doxxing, loss of employment, police brutality, and more. Most of all, we honor the workers and the people of Palestine, who continue to show us the meaning of resistance, steadfastness, and commitment to our communities. While our union, AFSCME, puts enormous effort and resources towards next month’s election, we think of our union siblings in Palestine and draw strength to look beyond electoral politics towards mutual support and international solidarity. None of us are free until all of us are free.
