SEIU 721 member and steward, representing a coalition of members called @purpleup4palestine, speaking on 10/5/24 at the Year of Resistance action in Ventura, CA.

After a year of genocide in Palestine, and students & protesters here facing violent repression for resisting U.S. complicity, it is time for labor unions to say No More! No more of our tax dollars being used to fund military aid to an occupying state who is refusing to allow humanitarian aid to enter Gaza. No more support for Democratic politicians who claim support for the working class while supporting the bombing of working class Palestinians. No more police and violent repression of our members for enacting their right to free speech and protest.

Resolution #108 was adopted at the SEIU International Convention on 5/20/2024, but it is time for our local unions to put words into action.

We need our local SEIU leadership to be proactive in defending members’ rights to protest. To protect members from retaliation in the form of firing, suspensions, or harassment. SEIU is committed to being member-led. As members, we must make our demands heard for a Free Palestine, and support for the BDS movement. We can only achieve that in unity.

The people united can never be defeated. Own your worker and union power, and fight for a Free Palestine. ✊🇵🇸
