Five UAW locals representing over 28,000 workers demand Hands Off Venezuela.
UAW Locals 2320, 2322, 2325, 2710, and 7902 condemn the United States government’s unprovoked acts of imperialist aggression against Venezuela. The invasion of Venezuela is intended to enrich oil companies and financial interests eager to exploit the Venezuelan people. For the working class, it will bring only suffering: death, destruction, and plunder of natural resources in Venezuela; and billions diverted to war instead of healthcare, housing, and schools in the United States.
We call on the leadership of the UAW and all other labor unions unequivocally to oppose the actions of the U.S. government in Venezuela and to demand an immediate end to the invasion, extrajudicial killings, kidnappings, and theft of Venezuelan resources; the complete withdrawal of military, intelligence, and “law enforcement” personnel; and the immediate release of President Nicolás Maduro and First Lady Cilia Flores.
We stand in unwavering solidarity with the people of Venezuela as they defend themselves against U.S. imperialism and demand that our tax dollars be used to meet social needs, not to bankroll imperialist war.
