Southern California Labor Meeting on Palestine: Fighting for Labor Actions To Stop the Genocide in Palestine End US Support for Apartheid Israel The University of California has engaged in widspread repression of students, faculty and staff who have spoken out in support of Palestine. More than 2 million Palestinians are living thru a livestreamed genocide with more than 40 thousand people martyred. This estimate doesn’t account for the tens of thousands buried alive under rubble. The Israeli army has murdered nearly 900 Palestinian healthcare workers and almost 200 journalists. Israel is imprisoning and torturing many more. More than 9 thousand Palestinians are currently being held in Israeli jails. The entire healthcare system in Gaza has been decimated and Israel refuses to allow adequate emergency medical supplies or food or water in. Famine and preventable diseases are killing the chil- dren and elderly first. Hundreds of doctors, surgeons, EMTs, nurses and other healthcare workers have been working 24/7 trying to save lives under the most horrific conditions and refuse to leave their patients behind. University of California faculty and staff who have publicly voiced their commitment to the rights of Palestinians–especially Palestinian healthcare workers–have had their First Amendment rights and academic freedom violated. Labor Meeting on Palestine Friday, September 27, 2024 7:00 PM San Diego Peace Resource Center 3850 Westgate Place, San Diego (15 min. from the UPTE Statewide Convention in San Diego Mission Bay Resort) US Union bureaucrats have a long history of supporting Israeli apartheid at the expense of workers’ rights in the US. Workers taxes and union dues are being used to f inance genocide while workers and communities in the US are suffering. Histradut, the supremacist trade union in Israel is paying IDF reservists 400 shekels/month to commit genocide. This is why UPTE passed a resolution in 2021 to BREAK TIES with Histradut. We need a strong united labor response to tell UC: We will defend all workers against pro-Zionist mobs and police, and confront the false accusations of antisemitism for speaking out for justice in Palestine.
