Why is Palestine a Labor Concern? (SAG-AFTRA Members for Ceasefire)

Nelson Mandela once called Palestine “the greatest moral issue of our time.” Those words have never rang more true than they do today. Palestine isn’t just a foreign policy matter; it’s a litmus test for human rights abuses we’re willing to tolerate. It involves our tax dollars funding a foreign apartheid state while we bleed dry at home. It is the redline we must draw in suppression of free speech, press, and artistic expression. It is protecting the right to protest, in its intended disruptive nature, and boycott. It is our government funding militias of human rights abusers to police our streets, exacerbating the problem of a deadly and growing militarized police state. It is a foreign state influencing our politics and elections. It is the integrity of our news media compromised to defend a foreign state. And it is our legitimacy as a democracy and a “moral” nation, if we ever hope to call ourselves one again, at stake. Swipe to learn more.
