TECH WORKERS IN SOLIDARITY WITH DOCKWORKERS: WE DO NOT WORK FOR WAR—Today, unions of dockworkers at nearly 110 ports across 22 countries are engaging in a series of strikes, solidarity actions, and protests against war, genocide, and worker exploitation. Endorsed by Palestinian trade unions and federations and the BDS movement, these dockworkers are leading a historic union mobilization against Israel’s atrocity crimes against Indigenous Palestinians.
Google and Amazon workers with No Tech for Apartheid stand in full solidarity with dockworkers unions and their resistance against militarization and Israeli occupation, apartheid and genocide. We support all worker-led efforts to block support of Israeli apartheid and genocide, including disrupting the transfer of dual-use items, which are products that can be used for both civilian and military uses — from steel to militarized AI and cloud.
Dockworkers’ principled action will inspire workers everywhere, including tech workers who are building the militarized AI and cloud technology that is being weaponized by the Israeli military. Our bosses at Google and Amazon supply cloud services and AI technology to the Israeli government and military through a $1.2 billion contract known as Project Nimbus. The technology provided under Nimbus has powered Israel’s genocide in Gaza.
Workers with No Tech for Apartheid understand that a full military embargo against Israeli occupation requires a ban on dual-use technologies masquerading as non-militarized products. That’s why we are organizing a mass base of workers ready and able to exercise the collective power we need to end Big Tech’s own support for Israel’s atrocity crimes. We stand with dockworkers’ powerful movement to do the same, resisting support for Israeli occupation at every step of the kill chain.
