CalSTRS Divest, a rank-and-file group of educators and allies, rallied and gave public comment at the May 7 CalSTRS Board meeting.

CalSTRS Divest demands that CalSTRS (the state pension fund for educators) divest from all companies that profit from the Gaza Genocide, the Israeli occupation of and apartheid in Palestine–and violations of human rights anywhere in the world.

CalSTRS, which has $349.5 billion total assets, has investments in at least $1.1 billion in such companies. These include Palantir Technologies, Elbit Systems, Caterpillar, Lockheed Martin, Boeing and Maersk, which have been integral in the genocide that has killed at least 51,000 Palestinians in Gaza.
