Two days ago, Ver.di issued a statement in support of the October 30th international strike by port workers.
The statement is pathetic—blatantly shameful—and fails to even mention Gaza or the ongoing genocide against my people.
The world is being turned upside down; school strikes are spreading across Europe, with Palestine at the forefront.
For three years, my people in Gaza and the West Bank have been subjected to ethnic cleansing—backed by clear and robust German support.
Yet, Ver.di still dares not utter the word “Gaza,” nor does it take a strong, courageous, and just stance toward my Palestinian people, who are being exterminated by German-made weapons.
Germany is the most blood-stained nation in modern history; it seems Ver.di—one of Germany’s largest labor unions—has learned nothing from that history.
For over a year and a half, I have sought the solidarity of my colleagues and my union, only to be met with nothing but racism and discrimination.

The call issued by Ver.di is brazen and racist; it actively contributes to the ongoing genocide and the daily killing of Palestinians—facilitated by German weapons, policies, and support.
As a member of Ver.di and a Palestinian directly affected by this genocide, I call upon all honorable people across the globe—all free workers of the world, my international colleagues, and my friends—do not trust Ver.di. Challenge them, demand a change in their conduct, and insist that they stop devaluing Palestinian lives and finally acknowledge the catastrophe my people are enduring.
Freedom for Palestine.
Shame upon those who remain silent or fail to act.
Victory to the free workers of the world.
