On the eve of International Worker’s Day, the General Federation of Palestinian Trade Unions in Gaza calls on labor unions in the United States to continue applying pressure to end the genocide in Gaza— including boycotting Maersk, the multinational shipping and logistics company responsible for delivering the majority of weapons sent from the United States to Israel over the course of this over 18 month genocide.
Citing Maersk’s complicity and affirming that the struggle for worker’s rights in U.S. is inseparable from the Palestinian struggle for liberation, PGFTU has put into clear focus the relationship between labor and capital in the advancement of imperialism, and above all, the power unions within the belly of the beast can wield to bring an end to the atrocities being enacted against the Palestinian people.
This International Worker’s Day, the Palestinian Youth Movement echoes PGTFU’s call to boycott Maersk and to take up action against the genocidal shipping giant. We urge all of those involved in organized labor in the U.S. and around the world to answer the call in defense of Gaza’s workers and the struggle to liberate Palestine from Zionism and colonialism.
Long live worker solidarity!
