When Gaza calls, we must answer. We must answer with a people’s arms embargo NOW.
Today, Gaza called and the city of Livorno answered. Italian port workers forced ZIM Virginia to leave without loading or unloading at the Port of Livorno. After receiving word of the ZIM shipments containing explosives, the port workers immediately commenced a spontaneous strike and refused to handle any cargo. The port workers reiterated that they would not be complicit in this genocide.
On August 15, 2025, Gaza called and the city of Elizabeth answered. Port Workers & Communitkes for Palestine protested the arrival of the same ZIM Virginia at Maher Terminal in Elizabeth, New Jersey after researchers discovered the containers included ammunition. They demanded longshore workers not handle “isr@eli” cargo or do business with “isr@eli” companies, heeding the call from the Palestinian General Federation of Trade Unions.
We know that the workers united will never be defeated. As ZIM Virginia sets sail to Barcelona, we must continue to answer Gaza’s call.
Join the global movement of people of conscience everywhere who demand that we #dontmovezim at every port, in every city 🌎🇵🇸💪🏽.
