Today marks 2 years of the something that didn’t start on Oct 7th 2023. We are living in some dark times in humanity normalizing genocide watching innocent Palestinians be slaughtered livestream for the past 2 years on social media. The U.S. isn’t just complicit we are actively participating if it’s not our Tax dollars. We are Israel largest supplier of weapons these weapons touch the hands of unionized workers. It’s time for U.S. labor draw red line and pick a side this is a working class struggle. Our brothers and sisters in Greece,Italy and France have already shown us the way! They shut down their ports fully divested from Israel and carried out General Strikes putting their countries on a stand still for Palestine! The question is What are We doing?
For the past 2 years the AFL-CIO has been actively fighting against any Pro-Palestine resolution the federation which includes the ILA longshoremen association continues to ignore workers voices. Besides a ceasefire resolution passed by numerous unions including the UAW nothings has been passed in over a year. Until the San Diego Labor Council passed one of the strongest resolutions in the country. Calling it a Genocide they have also demanded full arms embargo divestment of weapons and manufacturing for Israel. Also condemning the illegal attack and imprisonment on myself a U.S. labor leader.
Now the time has come to hold the AFL-CIO and the ILA accountable for their complicity. These 2 entities have the power to stop weapons going to Israel by having every union member shut it down for Gaza just like we’re seeing overseas. Join up Oct 24th at noon BLM Plaza in front of the AFL-CIO Headquarters in Washington D.C. as we deliver our petition with these demands. Palestinian liberation is not outside the scope of labor this is our FIGHT!
