November 29, 2025: Black Friday Weekend Action — LA Community Gathering Stands With Palestine and USB Port Workers Blocking Weapons to Israel as Billions Fund Genocide While LA Faces Homelessness, Healthcare Loss, and Hunger (Labor for Palestine-LA.OC.IE et al)

BLACK FRIDAY WEEKEND ACTION — LA COMMUNITY GATHERING STANDS WITH PALESTINE AND USB PORT WORKERS BLOCKING WEAPONS TO ISRAEL AS BILLIONS FUND GENOCIDE WHILE LA FACES HOMELESSNESS, HEALTHCARE LOSS, AND HUNGER

LOS ANGELES — On Saturday, November 29, the International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People, community organizations and labor activists will gather at Gloria Molina Grand Park to call for an end to Israel’s genocide in Gaza and to uplift the historic strike actions launched this week by Italian port workers led by the Unione Sindacale di Base (USB). These workers have halted operations to block weapons shipments to Israel and to challenge the global war economy.

Los Angeles is home to one of the largest labor workforces in the country—and one of the most visible crises of inequality. As Italian workers take courageous action to stop weapons shipments, organizers say U.S. labor leadership must step into its responsibility at home and abroad.

While billions flow to weapons for genocide, LA communities face evictions, hunger, healthcare cuts, and intensifying fascist policies targeting workers and marginalized communities.

Organizers emphasize that labor—historically a powerful force against war and authoritarianism—must act now to defend the working class and help disarm genocide.

WHAT:  International Day of Solidarity community gathering, speak-out, and cultural program. The event supports Italian port workers striking to block weapons shipments and highlights Black Friday weekend’s contrast between federal war spending and deepening domestic hardship.

WHEN: Saturday, November 29, 2025, 12:00 PM – 2:00 PM

WHERE: Gloria Molina Grand Park

Taking place during Black Friday weekend, the action draws attention to a stark national contradiction: while the U.S. government pours billions of dollars into weapons used in Gaza, communities across Los Angeles face escalating crises—mass homelessness, widespread Medi-Cal disenrollments, and cuts to food assistance.

Organizers highlight that U.S. labor leadership must confront this moment with urgency. Workers in Italy, Spain, Greece, and South Africa have already acted to stop the transport of weapons. U.S. labor carries a double responsibility, manufacturing the weapons and shipping them to Israel every 15 hours.

This Los Angeles gathering is part of a coordinated set of global days of action beginning on November 28, including a rally at the International Longshoremen’s Association (ILA) in North Bergen, New Jersey, and a rally at the International Longshore & Warehouse Union (ILWU) in San Francisco, California, both held in solidarity with the USB strike in Genoa, which is blocking weapons shipments to Israel. A sister community gathering will also take place at Oakland City Hall at noon on November 29, joining Los Angeles in a unified West Coast call to end U.S. complicity in genocide.

Amid rising authoritarian and anti-worker policies, organizers say labor leaders must defend the working class—from LA to Gaza—by challenging the war economy and refusing complicity in genocide.
