In downtown Los Angeles, unions and workers mobilized on Monday to demand the release of David Huerta, the president of SEIU California, who was arrested on Friday while mobilizing with the community to stop an ICE raid. Huerta, who was brutalized by federal agents and was sent to the hospital, is now facing federal criminal charges for “conspiring to impede an officer” and faces up to six years in prison.
Rank-and-file workers, in LA and across the country are saying no! We stand in solidarity with Huerta and the labor movement, and demand that all charges be dropped and he be free. It is imperative that we fight with the full power of the working class to defend one of our own, and against the brutal ICE raids that got us here.
