📣Historic win: CLC votes for hot cargo on Israel
Labour for Palestine – Canada celebrates the Canadian Labour Congress — Canadian Council’s endorsement of General Resolution ‘061’.
October 28th, 2026 the Canadian Council of the CLC passed a resolution declaring trade, services and relationship with Israel “hot cargo”, endorsed the Arms Embargo Now campaign and vowed to work with unions to make weapons and military equipment destined to Israel “hot cargo,” not to be touched by workers of conscience in line with the resolution and hot cargo declaration. Earlier this year, delegates at the CLC 2026 convention voted to cut ties with the Histadrut, a key component of our Hot Cargo Kills campaign
These measures reflect the demand of Palestinian trade unions, the growing position of the labour movement, and the wide support of the Canadian public for sanctions against the state of Israel.
We call on CLC affiliates and local unions to put the hot cargo declaration into practice: support workers who refuse to handle military cargo, pressure Ottawa to end all arms exports to Israel, and build direct ties with Palestinian unions.
We vow to continue our work until a full Hot Cargo declaration is realized, and no Israeli goods, services, or institutional relationships are moved, worked or maintained by Canadian workers.
