Teachers took to the streets across California—from San Diego to Los Angeles to the Bay Area—to condemn CalSTRS’ complicity in the Gaza genocide. Despite the promise of a ceasefire, the genocide is not over.
CalSTRS has over $2.7 billion (at least 0.5% of the entire fund, which is worth $380 billion) invested in entities and corporations that are actively and knowingly facilitating the Gaza genocide, Israeli apartheid, military occupation, and ethnic cleansing of Palestine. These include weapons manufacturers, surveillance technology companies, and Israeli bonds and banks. Many of these companies—such as Palantir and Elbit Systems—also directly profit from ICE’s anti-immigrant and racist campaign of terror and kidnappings around the US.
