HEED THE CALL: Workers, do not let the occupation’s sadistic targeting of the Palestinian people continue without recourse. As May Day quickly approaches, the time for action is now.
On April 4th, the Palestinian General Federation of Trade Unions in Gaza (PGFTU – Gaza) called on us, their union siblings: “We salute you on the eve of International Workers’ Day, a day that embodies the unity and solidarity of workers in confronting oppression and exploitation. We raise to you the voice of Gaza’s workers, who today stand at the forefront of confronting the most heinous forms of genocide, siege, and starvation, imposed on our people for decades.” They ask members of American labor unions as well as the labor movement as a whole to increase the pressure for ending this genocide—to move beyond words and into action. “We count on your awareness and determination to take concrete steps to end this tragedy.”
A coalition of labor and student organizations has heeded that call by diving into action planning for May Day 2025 demanding divestment from and severing ties to Israeli institutions as well as joining and expanding current boycott campaigns.
We know that our cause is just and that our victory is inevitable, so may we one day look back at the despicable waves of repression as the desperate cries of a dying beast. Long live May Day as a symbol of the struggle of the Palestinian and international working class.
