Each May, thousands of people march up Fifth Avenue in a “Salute to Israel”. Last year, as the Al-Aqsa Intifada raged, paraders were greeted at 59th Street by a loud, beautiful, spirited demonstration in solidarity with Palestine. Organized by members of Jews Against the Occupation, NYU Students for Justice in Palestine, Al-Awda/Palestine Right to Return Coalition, International Socialist Organization, Deir Yassin Remembered, and others, the demonstration stole the limelight from the parade, and told New York the real story about what is happening in Palestine.

This year, on May 5, as the death toll from Israeli oppression mounts, Israel will again be “saluted” on Fifth Avenue.

Our response must be larger and louder than ever.

We must ensure that everybody who stands in solidarity with the people of Palestine is with us that day.
